Using social media to find resources and share what you know
You will want to personalize the web address for your Facebook page making it easier to remember. When your page is first created, you receive a web address by default (example: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Go-Social-with-Genealogy/188590284583883) After a certain number fans like the page (25 or 30), you can then visit the following site to claim a username: https://www.facebook.com/username/
If you have more than one Fan page, you will need to select one from the drop down menu. Then you need to enter a simple phrase which will be added to the end of https://www.facebook.com. I suggest using the title of your Fan page. Remember that the longer you make the phrase, the harder it will be to remember and type in to the web browser.
After you select the phrase, you need to click the blue button to see if it is available. Do not use a phrase that could be mistaken for another business or entity. You should receive a message letting you know that you successfully changed the web address.
Now you can share this username when promoting your page (example: https://www.facebook.com/GoSocialWithGenealogy) Also, your page will be easier to find when people search within Facebook.
